Turning the Intent to Reduce Plastic into Reality

The issue of plastic waste is a critical global concern, and Bags & Gloves Co., Ltd., as a leading Thai manufacturer of plastic gloves, plastic bags, and film products, recognizes the urgency of this challenge.

We acknowledge the importance of reducing the volume of virgin plastic resins or utilizing substitute raw materials. To address this, we developed the “Plastic Reduction Program” to strike a balance between product quality and environmental responsibility.

The core concept of this program is simple yet clear: “To minimize the use of petroleum-based plastics as much as possible” without compromising the product’s properties, performance, or the quality standards our customers have come to trust.

Mineral-Based Materials: Our Chosen Alternative

We have actively researched and developed new production formulations, incorporating natural minerals, such as Calcium Carbonate, as an aid to significantly reduce the proportion of plastic resin used.

One innovation that has garnered significant attention is the “LIMEX Mineral-Based Material.” This alternative material uses Limestone as its primary raw ingredient. While possessing properties similar to conventional plastic, it is far more sustainable because it helps conserve limited natural resources, particularly water and petroleum.

LIMEX Bags: The Next Generation of Eco-Friendly Plastic Bags

We have successfully transitioned this project into a tangible product: the LIMEX plastic bag. With its composition of natural limestone, the use of virgin plastic resin is substantially decreased.

LIMEX bags retain all essential functional properties, including:

  • Exceptional Durability and Strength
  • Operational Flexibility
  • Suitability for Commercial Applications

They are ideal for various uses, such as:

  • Handle Bags (Carrier Bags)
  • Shopping Bags
  • Cup Carrier Bags

This product is perfectly suited for businesses aiming to minimize their environmental impact without worrying about product quality. LIMEX bags have attracted widespread customer interest because they offer a practical, actionable way for businesses to care for the planet.

Benefits of Using Alternative Materials

The incorporation of minerals like Calcium Carbonate or LIMEX material creates positive effects across multiple dimensions:

  • Reduced Carbon Footprint: Less energy is consumed in the production process, leading to lower carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Water Conservation: Significantly decreases water usage compared to standard plastic production.
  • Resource Efficiency: Promotes resource utilization and supports the Circular Economy framework.
  • Innovation Opportunity: Serves as a foundation for developing new material formulas that can effectively substitute conventional plastics.

Pioneering Sustainable Industry Development

Our Plastic Reduction Program marks a crucial stride in our Sustainable Development roadmap. We are committed to elevating the Thai plastic bag industry toward a more environmentally conscious future.

We will continue to research and innovate with new alternative materials to ensure our customers receive products that are simultaneously good for their business and beneficial for the planet. We believe that the best innovation is one where all parties benefit.

Less plastic, more sustainability. We firmly believe that a successful business is measured not just by its profit, but also by the positive impact it creates for the world.
